After ESS ceased working, dealer warranty replaced main battery at (nearly) exactly 3 years after build date. (Jeep at sat on lot for ~ 1/2 year before I bought it w/ 28 miles; guess a stripped MT Rubicon wasn't popular ). Aux battery still seems ok now 5+ years after build. Probably getting close.

I mean it would make sense if the Aux battery stays in the same place on the Eco Diesel model, and just the main battery and PDC switch places. My 2019 Jeep Sport JL 2-door 3.6 MT is not starting. I was looking to change the battery when I learned it also has an aux battery. The main battery shows 12.5 volts. Can a failed aux battery prevent you from starting? Oh yeah. This kinda thing was happening to the review models back before the JL hit lots. However, while tedious, the battery is relatively easy to replace and a faulty or dying one is certainly indicative of the issues you're having. It could also be a problem with fuses, but regardless, that's what your warranty is for.

Update: Jeep has been at the dealer for 10 days. Service initially thought it was 2 dead batteries. The 2nd battery is a true backup. No loads connected to it unless I need it to start the jeep and it is disconnected from the primary battery if the ignition is off. When ignition is on and alternator voltage is above 13.2 volts the backup battery is charging. Flip a switch to connect the backup battery and start the jeep.
